St. Peter Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod celebrates 1st Anniversary Sunday, March 1st, the congregation of St. Peter Lutheran Church, 125-B East Main Street, celebrated their first anniversary in Dahlonega. The Celebration Service was led by Pastor Timothy Droegemueller, from Living Faith Lutheran Church, Cumming, Ga. Special music was provided by Crystal Bethards and Kathy Williams, playing their flutes and was enjoyed by all. After the Worship Service, a time of fellowship and a dinner catered by “Just Off The Square Country Café, brought forth much reminiscing of the past year’s growth and progress. St. Peter Lutheran Church began with 4 people and is now ministering to 50 dedicated Christians. They began in a meeting room at the Holiday Inn Express and soon outgrew those facilities. On Sept. 7th, the Church moved to the building adjacent to “Just Off The Square Country Café” and with the larger facilities, they started Sunday School, Confirmation and Bible Classes. The Youth Group is in the early stages, but looks very promising, with plenty of young people to participate. They shopped for families in need at Christmas and enjoyed the experience. St. Peter Lutheran Church is served by Pastor Robert Strickert (retired from Rivercliff Lutheran Church in Sandy Springs, Ga.), Pastor Ernie Knoche (retired from Christ Lutheran Church and School in Forest Hills, Pa.) and Vicar Martin Richardson, presently serving at Christ The Shepherd Lutheran Church in Alpharetta.
